About Nate Boguszewski, briefly

The Basics:

In my personal work I investigate the social abrasions that define individuals and environments. Born and raised in the American rustbelt at the beginning of the end of its peak, my worldview is framed by the experience of life in transition. I seek to show growth and decay, all that's grim and beautiful, from ground level through documentation of changes and cycles. I don't claim to be an artist, I'm just an observer. Most of my work is just my life in snapshots.

I also shoot commercial jobs because eating feels good and food, which tastes delicious, costs money. I'm available for commissions, consultations, instruction and assignments. I am always glad and eager to travel especially for photo essays and photonarrative jobs. Potential clients fighting for social justice and against economic disparities, contact me. I'd love to support your cause and we can work within your budget.

If you're a model interested in scheduling a session please note that my time is extremely limited and I am not currently accepting TFP requests. If you're not a model but are interested in posing for me, I'll make every effort to arrange time. There's little more I appreciate than working with raw, real people.

Additionally:

I work in New York City as the archivist for composer Philip Glass. I hold a B.A. Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to being a photographer, I'm also the Principal for Hylid Design (formerly art:product), (re)launching April 2012.

I live in Brooklyn, NY. I maintain strong ties to clients, and cook holiday dinners for my family, in Pittsburgh, PA.

About This Site:

This site is categorized into portfolios, a project archive and a blog. Projects show images created from situations I sought to create or document. The Blogski shows an ever-updating list of images from moments that I was experiencing and also happened to shoot. A Few Things Others Have Said:

"If there is a signature display in the book, however, it's Nate Boguszewski's side-by-side photographs of a studio-wrestling-style bout in Lawrenceville."

"Documenting American life in candid, often revealing fashion, photographer Nate Boguszewski looks to tell complex stories in the space of a single frame."

"If you've seen Boguszewski's photographs before, you know that his shots often focus on capturing intimate, unstaged moments in everyday life. These new shots continue that tradition."

"Multidisciplined artist Nate Boguszewski provides an in-depth look at his creative space in its final days before relocating from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City."
