The Dining Room at Barney Greengrass

Under the disapproving eye of Marie, sitting across the table in front of me and to the left of the frame, I tried to get a shot of the space at Barney Greengrass in the Upper West Side. I wanted to get the elderly couple eating their smoked fish and bagels in their natural habitat.

It's a certifiable time capsule here. The wallpaper looks about a hundred years old, the people in the place look like they've been coming here for a hundred years, and the cheap fluorescent light casts just the perfect hue of yellow-green over everything.
