Brooklyn Trendwatch, Summer 2014: The Tractor is the New Scooter

I underestimate New York City. From my perspective, a tractor is a foreign contraption from a bygone day, an otherworldly device used to do things to dirt on a farm. Beyond it being a novelty to a misty-eyed, Sunday-bathing hipster romanticizing pastoral ways, I woudn't think any city dwellers would know what it's really for, how it works, or anything about a tractor. While I was photographing this thing, a guy walked up to me to talk me about the differences between engines in this one and some other model. He was looking to talk shop. He thought it was mine.

Still, that its owner has parked it on the street and not in a garage or barn is pretty funny.
