A former baker at the iconic and now very crowded all the time because it's vintage and authentic and ethnic (Polish) Peter Pan Donuts & Pastries in Greenpoint left to open his own shop, named Moe's Doughs Donuts, almost comically close.
Despite reported drama in the local blogosphere and a desire for it in the local food scene, there is no real difference between the donuts. I bought a bunch from each shop to taste test and confirm.
