I've noticed a few changes around the property. The fence rails have been removed. These used to deter deer from getting into the garden but with no garden left, there's no reason for the fence to remain in place. In the past, Pap removed and restored them when he needed to get in and out.

I stopped at the basketball courts on the drive home after a run around North Park Lake. There's something inviting about their emptiness. I can't play basketball for the life of me and I want to stand here for a moment. Maybe I'm overheated. I just ran five miles. I don't usually do that.

Lucy came back to the apartment to clear out the rest of her stuff.

I hit the gym. I did laundry. I went out for drinks with Karen, the first gal I dated in NYC, now one of my better friends. We swapped dating combat stories and ate grilled cheese.

The apartment is empty while I'm between roommates. I let two CouchSurfers crash at the place. Joreen, from Singapore, and Sarah, from Korea, stayed for two nights.

It's noon. There are only dog walkers and grown-ups with babies out at this hour. It's too early for most of the people around my age.
